I feel this is a better method, no App Store.
People on X completely unaware of the techtonic shifting power of what we are building on nostr.
Including legends like nostr:nprofile1qqsvvgymtym2afgf9enhuwqhkffjnc0mtusxa29ca979n49txkkxurqsl4mtm :
"[...] it is obvious that a third Android app store is required, where apps that are not censored can be made available in the same secure way the other two stores operate. Doing this would take many tens of millions of dollars, but no one is doing it, or even talking about it."

What do you think is better about Obtainium?
two things i like about obtainium are the possibility to label/group apps and adding apps without installing them. this way they're easy to find for me when i do need to install them
I don’t want to say better. But there is something to be said about skipping the middle man. I’ve used zap store also… I usually try obtaining, then zap store, then fdroid, and finally play store if I have to.
Why?
There is an equal amount of middlemen in Zapstore and Obtainium.
In both cases you download the same APK from the source.
Maybe I don’t have a full understanding of how zapstore works. But obtainium I literally goto the repo for the app I want . 100% directly from the source. Where zapstore , you are providing me that path.. so there is an extra level of trust.
I'm just indexing the repos and displaying them nicely. There is no difference in the trust model.
Maybe you got confused because of nostr signatures - but Obtainium provides none. APK certificate signatures are the same in both because files are the same.
A reasonable criticism is that you can't go to any repo you want. That is coming soon.
