I have been wondering why #usenet has been on my mind lately. Not because of all the things pirates do there... but for how it works. And it finally struck me: Usenet's fundamentals of spreading bits of information across multiple servers reminds me a lot of how Nostr relays work.

They arent related, at all, as far as I know. But it just kinda stuck me and I kinda like to think of Nostr as the modern usenet... somewhat, kind of.

Many people have said this. Though I believe usenet is still used quite a lot for large files.

If we store enough files and set up enough paywalls then the differences might get blurred.

Usenet has many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mixmaster and Cyberpunks anonymous remailers. Other nym's. BitTorrent, Bitcoin, Nostr, xmodem, zmodem, yoohoo2u2 lol..🤔🙂
