Seed Phrase Phun Phact

The 12th word or 24th word in a Seed Phrase is deterministic and as a check sum the word on the prior 11 or 23 words.

The last word’s binary is partially determined by the key’s seed leaving limited space for the check digit

So, for a given 11 words there are only 128 possible words for the 12th word, and for a given 23 words there are only 8 possible final 24th words.
