Hey Fren,
You need a browser extension (like Alby) so you don't have to enter your private key to use other nostr apps...
You enter it once into the extension, and then the extension signs things for you. More secure, less risk of exposing your keys to a bad actor...😃

alby's utility is mainly the LNURL payment address
