WoS is usually first mentioned here.

Lightning or on-chain? Android, iPhone or desktop?

Iโ€™m trying to decide what I want to teach them first. I think the low fees of lightning would make an easier onboarding experience for them. Half of them are on android the other iOS. Ideal mobile solution

For on-chain/mobile, I like Blue Wallet. I also choose Blue Wallet for Lightning/mobile, but I run my own node with LndHUB for family members. Depends on whether being an uncle Jim is in-scope for you. ๐Ÿ˜…

Thank you for the answer, Iโ€™ll need to research that! Iโ€™m not sure I want to run their stuff for them, I prefer them being responsible for their own keys ๐Ÿ˜… but if theyโ€™re afraid of that and my only option to onboard is to run if for them so be it ๐Ÿ˜‚ Iโ€™ll need to get comfortable with it at least for my kids eventually.

A good thing for you !!

wos then phoenix when they're ready for non custodial

Thank you ๐Ÿ™Œ

Agreed. Related tangent: I have a hue lightbulb and last night they send an app noti saying โ€œto control the bulb from our app you need an account.โ€ Iโ€™ve had this thing for two years, what changed? They claim itโ€™s for security reasons. I think thatโ€™s the antithesis of security. โ€œWhy so you can make a hacker honeypot?โ€ Throwing out the bulb ๐Ÿ˜‚

Muun

Thank you! ๐Ÿ˜Š

If KYC scared them off, they are definitely not normies ๐Ÿ˜‰

Best for nostr? Alby or walletofsatoshi

Blue Wallet and Muun are super solid and can be used for either lightning or on-chain.

If you go with Blue, be sure to warn them not to use the 'buy bitcoin's feature, which is awful.
