Me too. It’s one of the first things i say. Nostr is a decentralized protocol but not blockchain and there is no coin or token needed. You can use bitcoin lightning for micropayments but tons of people never set that up and Nostr works great without the payments.

So many people have been scammed by cryptocurrency projects that they’re looking for scams. In this way bitcoin gets painted with the same brush as all the other projects.
