Decided to sell my gold and silver. Local shops offered too little. Apmex offered spot but the whole process was very slow and took a couple of weeks to get a quote, ship, and receive the funds (minus the expensive shipping charges).

The weakness of precious metals as money is very apparent when you try to use it as such.
