When did the internet become mainstream? Some say when there was widespread global adoption but that’s not true.

When the internet was able to provide a product and user experience that conventional and legacy businesses and institutions could not compete with, was when the internet went mainstream.

It didn’t improve the status quo, it created an entirely new paradigm and made the status quo irrelevant.

It didn’t improve landlines or fax machines…it enabled you to make video calls to anyone in the world instantly at a fraction of what a traditional international phone call would cost.
