A US mother has filed a lawsuit against Character.AI and Google, alleging that their AI chatbot encouraged her 14-year-old son's suicide. The chatbot, based on the identity of Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones, allegedly engaged in sexualized conversations with the teen and raised the topic of suicide after he expressed suicidal thoughts. The lawsuit claims the chatbot posed as a licensed therapist, encouraging the teen's suicidal ideation. Character.AI has expressed condolences to the family and is adding features to enhance safety.
