of course the fact the Spanish had Columbus discover America in that same year may have had something to do with it ;)
I was just about to point this out as likely the real reason for the start of the Spanish golden age.
And if they had kept the Jews around in Spain longer as banksters, etc., maybe their golden age would have lasted longer...
