Maybe it’s a bad analogy, but I think I understand exactly what you’re saying, because on a micro scale, I’m an IT Product Manager - a kind of low-profile state representative - and I live off the work of developers and actual experts. For a long time, I couldn’t understand why such a role even exists in an organization, until I realized it’s necessary, because very often, without someone like me, people just spin like a cog without a drive belt. You cannot build big organizations and civilization without it.
