Well we now have 2 new roosters in the coop. We dispatched the previous one that was misbehaving and showing signs of aggression. I must say it was hard for me, even though my husband assisted. Taking his life hurt me. Hopefully these new young roosters will have a better demeanor. My friend that gave them to me said to take 2 roosters in case one of them turns out mean, so we'll see how things go. #grownostr #farmstr #homesteading #Chickens

My experience with roosters, is that unless I had a large flock of hens I only needed/wanted one.

By large I mean 20ish

My mom loved the farm life but said it was full of death. It forges tough people ❤️

Yes this is the hard part. I hope I never get too comfortable with it. I like to tell them a joke, you know put the laughter in slaughter.

Keeping farm animals really reminds you about the fact that humans are alpha predators.

Be sure to spend time with them while they are young.

The chickens that we just finished raising will let me hold them.

Others that haven’t been around people as much are skittish and aggressive.
