Enabled by default and users trust that you have it set up in such a way as to not catch legitimate users (if they're even aware of it). I have no problem with users making an individual choice to mute, but that's not what's happening when legitimate users get caught in a spam filter, is it?

Correct. They trust us to get rid of everything they don't like (which is mostly random dick pics, shitcoins and DM phishing). And the filter works great. That's why we keep it. If it wasn't working, then it would make sense to remove. But it is highly effective.

Okay, Yes. I don't want porn popping up in my feed because I don't want to hide in a corner to use nostr. Makes sense. I want to be able to show other people my feed without fightclub Tyler Durden type subliminals flashing by making children cry. I can manually block those but I don't want to see it to begin with.

So maybe I am ignorant of the reality devs are struggling with.

Maybe nostr:nprofile1qqsvfr3f7p95stxqrjslnmuvsmhcxxxqt8swjdfjx5tz7zq0yms5cygpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgqg4waehxw309ajkgetw9ehx7um5wghxcctwvsq32amnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwd4hhxarj9ec82css0rm9g should do a podcast with a dev about the struggle to balance between free and useful speech and vile memery.

This might be a referencable resource to help people like myself not jump to conclusions.
