How do you think a monoculture is bad for Google's interests? Wouldn't they want to dominate the market to ensure their lifeblood ad revenue keeps flowing?

I'm not speaking for Google, this is just my personal opinion but a monoculture invites all sorts of regulatory scrutiny. The Chrome team in particular wants the web open and varied, that's why they work so hard on Web standards bodies.

"Monoculture" is what non-corporates THINK Google wants because it plays into their "they're all bastards" narrative.
