That's why I qualified by saying ones that don't bear fruit. There's always an exception of course.

I agree, unless you are growing them for livestock to eat or they self seed

Yea annuals that seed significantly get a pass.

Hol up... what about greens? Most of our greens are derived from annual weeds, brassicas being the first to come to mind.
