Cooking steak at home. Doing reverse sear and while searing the steaks, the fire alarm went off ( not too crazy, happens sometimes ) but then 5 seconds later the power went out ( i have an electric stove ). It then came back on and off a few times, enough for me to finish the steaks while my wife fanned the fire alarm. Finished the steaks and the power died for good...we ate in the glow of our cell phone flashlights...eventful but the steaks turned out good still!

Smoke is a real problem for me if I sear steaks inside. I don't have an exhaust fan that vents outside. When it's freezing outside like it is now I'm not too quick to open windows either.
