Na your 100 correct bc lightning is pretty much custodial

There are some good non-custodial wallets out there that make it super easy with on-the-fly channels creation. Check Phoenix, Zeus or Blixt.

They're working on it and uave been teasing about it for awhile, as well as a nostr client called Topaz, but it might be dead in the water atm.
