What did I miss? Assuming early coins moved, that's cool. I hope to also be able to move coins in 12 yrs if I want to.

Correct. Really old coins move all the time to cold storage hardware wallets because they didn’t exist back then and it’s a more secure way of continuing the long term HODL.
