This was not their birthright. We have a culture that goes back to the Magna Carta. It is for Easterners to find their way. We must reclaim what is rightfully ours.
Autocorrect got me ... Damn.
Anyway. What is not a birthright? Speech? You're not really making any sense.
We're all born with the ability to think and form speech, we should use it. It's not a western or eastern specific thing. It's universal. I don't understand why people push a narrative for propaganda and act as if Europe is in shambles for not being able to speak freely but getting poisoned in Russia for speaking freely is a non factor (as an example).
I am trying to say that freedom of speech is part of the Western tradition. For example, it is codified in the US constitution. It is not a traditional part of other civilizations.
I would very much like everyone to have freedom of speech, but it seems especially tragic for the West to fall into totalitarianism when we have a tradition of free thought, property, etc.
A very very very very long time ago, censorship wasn't even invented yet.
