Berkeley can close Ohlone park encampment, new ruling says
The judge denied the union's request to block the city's action, citing the city's efforts to work with campers and lack of established legal basis for the union's arguments. The city had planned to close the encampment in May, and the judge's ruling requires the city to provide 72 hours' notice before removing campers. The case is set to return to court in July.
The judge also denied a request by the Berkeley Homeless Union to order both sides to sit down to work out a settlement.
