Today I switched my setup to an easier one and more lazy one💡

I have my Wireguard config as normal for full VPN but add a second one for DNS only + local IP Support because I want to use my services and Unbound & Pi-hole everytime without the need of a manuell switch or hard batterie drain.

How did I do that❓

I use WG Tunnel from F-Droid. This app activate my DNS only + local IPs VPN profile when I leave my home wifi to mobile network. When I enter a different WiFi as my own, it switched to the full VPN. After coming home, the VPN will automaticly turned off.

Example:

First Wirguard Profil (Full VPN)

AllowedIPs = 0.0.0.0/0

Second Wireguard Profil (DNS+Local)

AllowedIPs = 192.168.178.0/24

You need to enter your local pihole IP, but switch the last number/place to 0 and add /24 as in my config.

So I have everytime my own DNS and can use local service. This is the best batterie, security and speed option for me.
