#AskNostr Keen to give my 6yr old his own Lightning wallet for achievement rewards. Reluctant to give him a dedicated mobile phone though. Thought about a Bolt Card, but it'll mean he can't see his balance. Suggestions appreciated. Ideally something relatively dumb.
Discussion
An old Android phone with only one app installed for the wallet with no play store access works like a charm.

Can we combine a #Minibits dev, a #ESP32 dev, and a #3Dprinter to combine these things to build something like this?
I'm thinking we could use and ESP32 with AA batteries, to link to a Minibits #wallet, just to show the account name and #Sats balance, with an on/off button, and a chunky keypad as shown for a passcode.
Nice and simple, so even quite young kids can have one.
Looking like a kids' calculator would be good opsec fwiw.
The wallet itself could be handled by a parent for actual functions, like transfers.
I guess the next step up, potentially for older kids would be to have something like this linked to an app like #Jan3's #Aqua wallet, for #Lightning and on-chain #Bitcoin balances.
Maybe stick a receive QR code on the back so anyone can #zap it.
Or does this type of thing already exist?
Or is this idea flawed?
old pixel with graphene, create a user with controls so only has the app installed, uninstall all other things and dont give user access to mobile network 🤙
I was just saying to nostr:npub1a8jzweysxa9qmtmht874736aalm0lwdsl306nrys9d05ktlrhw3qcr5pj4 the other day this device is underrated. Could be updated to be a touch screen and still be a fraction of the cost of the full mobile based versions we see about.
