How is Invitae (NVTA) genetic testing "free"?

Who is funding them and why?

Top 3 shareholders:

1. Ark Investment Managament 12% (Cathie Wood)

2. Bkackrock Inc 8%

3. Vanguard Group 7%

...

8. State Street corp 3%

These "usual suspects" together own 30%, easily enough to direct the company.

Call me crazy but something stinks here.

However much one guards his bitcoin private keys, however much one guards his nostr nsec, how much more our very genetic code?

Anyone know anything more down this rabbit hole?

I won't allow genetic tests on my family or myself. Even if a company does genetic testing for all of the right reasons and with no plan to track you or anything else nefarious, you never know when that company might be bought out or the government might come calling with a request for information. It isn't worth the risk.
