Local database of events and offline cache?

I feel like this would greatly optimize loading and bandwidth, especially after closing the application and only new notes would need to be loaded and rendered.

It could be. Though I am not sure a new dev can make quick progress on this.

A simple approach may be to run a lightweight relay on device, that then syncs with the rest of the relays. Probably not a quick weekend project, though could be interesting.
