Remember, sooner or later all the mainstream cold wallets will update the firmware with a backdoor.
"Why is that?"
- Because the government/world elite want everything we own and dont care about us.
- The FBI/CIA will just tell the CEO of Ledger/Trezor etc. "you either give us a backdoor into the firmware or you will regret it"
- Just like they did with Apple, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

You got the air gapped/offline part correct.
But a 12 word seed phrase is no-go imo.
"Why?"
- Because people without morals & ethics got computers running 24/7.
- Generating random wallets and the code checks if they contain crypto.
- If the code generates a wallet with crypto on, it will steal it faster than you can blink.
- You could say they "Mine" for wallets with crypto on...
12 word seed phrases must be trillions of times less secure than 24 word ones.
A) Because they primarily focus on 12 word wallets.
B) 12 word wallets got trillions of less combinations to test 🙏
If we are lucky the firmware update will just tell the government what crypto you own (your wallet address)
But I don't for one mili second think they would stop at that.
