Yep, without any relay, the app doesn't really know where to get your info from. I am surprised you are even seeing zaps and notifications.
Here's my current network settings. I haven't made any changes since onboarding.

Well, I don't know what the screen means, but none of the red ones are working. Purple pages is not a good relay for inbox and outbox and Misskey.cloud is not returning anything.
