tradeoffs,

- I can comfortably carry a larger handgun because it is not kydex

- hammer fired guns are larger than the tiny micro compact striker fired many carry, and there is no way I am trusting a chambered striker fired pointed at my dick

- my draw is slower since I switched but gets faster every day

- reholstering is a bit of a pain in the ass compared to kydex but speed doesnt matter much for that

I carry a P-09 in a kydex shell occasionally. Total overkill, but I'm a kydex evangelist. I won't use anything else.

I do carry a striker gun (Shield Plus) in appendix during the summer, but I won't reholster it because there's no hammer to thumb. Makes training kind of a pain.

If you're training at all, you're pretty much in the 1% of gun owners. If you have any USPSA matches around you, I'd suggest trying one. You'll learn a lot and there will be tons of guys just dying to help you improve.

Kydex holster so I can just pop it into the Fanny pack without worry. OWB, for yard work or at the range.

Used to carry p226 at the 5 o’clock in leather. That was comfortable but there wasn’t much “concealed” to that carry.

Hoping to get a kydex homster with a +1 mag holder but that seems too bulky.

Dream gun is a cowboy revolver (SAA maybe) with a leather drop holster. But highly impractical.

Buy steel targets. Vary setup and course of fire. Practice moving and shooting, which helps with muzzle awareness. Shoot from every position. Shoot with one hand. Learn to reload one handed. Learn to malfunction drill one handed. You can rack the slide in your shoe or belt. Practice moving and shooting. You don’t want to stand still if there’s a situation. Learn to shoot with an elevated heart rate. Burpees, air squats, etc before a course of fire should get you there. Your heart will accelerate IRL so learn in a controlled environment.

The sidecars do seem like they'd be bulky, but, counterintuitively, the mag side really seems to balance everything out and they are actually extremely comfortable. In my opinion, of course.

I have a gun-only holster as well as a sidecar for all my carry guns and I go sidecar the majority of the time.

My sidecar is my fanny pack. 🙃

What do you carry in there? I'll run an LCP in a pocket holster for quick trips out, but it's more cumbersome and awkward than it should be.

43x in kydex +1 mag. Pelican RFI blocking wallet. Business cards for my meetup. Mini flashlight. AirPods and sometimes a hair tie for my daughters.

Trigger guard fully enclosed?
