Germany is so bad and backwards in Bitcoin adoption that even a small burger joint, in a small village near Munich, accepting Lightning payments goes viral.

In the big city where I live, which mainly consists of shopping stores, there are only 3(!) stores that accept Bitcoin according to BTC Map: a Russian restaurant, a bike shop, and another odd store.

I have also been accepting Bitcoin for a year. Why am I not going viral here? 🤔

Ditching nuclear for windmills and coal, swapping scarce bitcoin for infinite fiat… massive own goal, we’ll take it.

I think, they know exactly what they're doing and don't see it as an "own goal". You know, them and the people are two totally different entities for them.
