A thought that came to my mind: In the past, the wealthy used to live on the first floor of their mansions and left the upper floors for the servants. Nowadays, it’s the other way around. 🙃

Still the case in the GCC houses. Ground floor for everyday living, first floor for the family, and the top floor is for house servants.
