Any large amount should be on a cold storage hardware device. Phones and phone apps are easy to hack.

A non custodial lightning solution can be useful for utxo management. The max amount I want in WoS and the minimum send to cold storage are very different numbers. Self custody hot wallets have their uses too 🫂💜
Didn't say they didn't. Just said a large amount shouldn't be on it. Hardware wallet is meant to be your savings/safe. Your mobile software wallets are the same as the wallet as you carry in your jeans. For everyday use. But no one who is smart walks around with a half a million dollars in there pocket.
There is some more nuance needed here.
Bluewallet, Samurai wallet, Envoy and co. are reasonably safe even for moderate amounts on a phone.
The price of a hardware signing device can be a huge barrier for someone without much money while a phone he might already have.
