What do you mean? Nostr uses *the* blockchain. The only one that matters.

Alright that got a chuckle.

But actually… 😁

There is no blockchain underlying the Nostr protocol. That’s why it works.

I know what you meant, of course. But apart from LN integration being part of the NIP protocols, it's arguable that Bitcoin is “underlying” it, at least at the social & driving adoption level.

Bitcoin isn't built within nostr, but nostr may well need Bitcoin to succeed (unknown one way or the other, but definitely plausible).

That’s a fair statement. Nostr may have needed Bitcoin for the initial success and adoption. I’m not sure about in the long term though. So it’s definitely still unknown.

People might be confused and think Nostr is a protocol built on bitcoin, which it’s not, and any web3 projects that attempt to use a blockchain for a communication protocol that requires a token are doomed to fail. The companies behind these have no vision, all they have is an exit strategy.

No. Nostr uses No blockchain for its function

It doesn’t even use the Timechain™️ 😅

In the meantime, some people are buying lense protocol NFT for a “decentralized” social media platform.

🤣

Rekt they will get.
