I mentioned frequently posted topical hashtags to people yesterday asking a similar question. Hashtags would help users find communities as people would be looking for others who share the same interests and hobbies. I know when I first joined I wanted to find like-minded people who shared in my hobbies and it wasn't easy to find these communities as I didn't know what hashtags were used.
Knowing that their is more content other than #Bitcoin and that their are vibrant communities relating to other things here will help with retention and on-boarding and might push people over the fence to ditch Twitter and other apps and contribute here and join in the fun.
#nostr needs to try and ditch the assumption among the mainstream that Nostr is an echo chamber for BTC maxis, imo and show their is more to Nostr than that and their are other communities here as well. Showing a nocoiner something familiar and they can relate too will get them on-board faster and they will become a convert faster. So it's a win-win scenario. Orange piling them will come with #zap functionality.
So imo client #devs should focus on hobbies and interests in the on-boarding process and not so much on familiar faces. Not saying having suggested accounts is bad, but it doesn't introduce them to the communities we have here and doesn't help with user discovery. Having frequently posted topical hashtags listed when a new account is created will help with user discovery and community creation.
