---Reports---
-International Events-
1. Russian Missile Strike on Kyiv: Russian forces launched a missile-and-drone barrage on Kyiv, resulting in at least six fatalities and significant infrastructure damage, occurring shortly after reports of progress in peace negotiations. Ukrainian officials confirmed the attack disrupted power supplies in several districts, with emergency services responding to multiple sites. (NYTimes)
2. China's Stance on Taiwan: Chinese President Xi Jinping informed US President Donald Trump that Taiwan's return to China is considered an integral part of the post-war international order, amid ongoing territorial claims by Beijing. China maintains that Taiwan is part of its sovereign territory, rejecting any moves toward independence. This communication occurred during recent high-level discussions between the two leaders. -US Events-
1. Judge Dismisses Cases Against Comey and James, Finding Trump Prosecutor Was Unlawfully Appointed: A federal judge on Monday tossed out separate criminal charges against the former F.B.I. director James B. Comey and New York’s attorney general, Letitia James, saying the loyalist prosecutor installed by President Trump to bring the cases was put into her job unlawfully. The dismissals, while embarrassing for the White House and the Justice Department, are unlikely to be the last word on an issue of constitutional authority that many legal experts expect could be appealed to the Supreme Court. (NYTimes)
2. Republicans balk at Trump’s health care proposal before it’s even released: The White House on Monday delayed its proposal for averting a spike in Affordable Care Act premiums amid harsh blowback from an array of Republican allies and lawmakers. The proposal drew heavy criticism from conservatives who panned the proposal for including an extension of key enhanced ACA subsidies that are due to expire at the end of the year. (CNN) (AC-Truly a hard place to be in for both executive and legislative branches to be in. Continued interference in market dynamics by a government trending towards socialist health care (and back) can only exacerbate the problems of super-managed healthcare and inhibit affordability and quality for customers.)
3. Trump Launches Genesis Mission AI Project: The Genesis Mission aims to train scientific foundation models by harnessing massive federal scientific datasets, while the Department of Energy creates an American Science and Security Platform to centralize research infrastructure. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said the program will help lower energy prices and boost electricity grid efficiency, though analysts warn AI data centers could consume 6.7% to 12% of US electricity by 2028, up from 4.4% in 2023. -Regulatory and Legal-
1. Strike CEO Jack Mallers Debanked by JPMorgan as Bank Faces Epstein Tensions: JPMorgan Chase abruptly closed Strike CEO Jack Mallers’ accounts, citing “concerning activity,” reigniting crypto debanking fears amid the bank’s ongoing Epstein controversies. Mallers, who has a history of publicly calling out JPMorgan’s CEO Jamie Dimon, used the moment to promote Bitcoin. He posted on X: “Seek truth. Stand with integrity. Fight for freedom. Protect Bitcoin at all costs.” (BitcoinMag) (AC-The ire against JPMorgan is growing according to social media.)

1. Strategy Removal From Leading Indices Could Lead to Further Stock Drop: Strategy, a Bitcoin-buying firm, broke its usual pattern by not adding more Bitcoin to its stockpile, causing its stock price to remain low. Analysts predict potential removal from MSCI indices could lead to significant outflows and further stock declines. (Decrypt)
2. Metaplanet borrows another $130 million | 1,486 BTC against its bitcoin holdings to buy more BTC. (Decrypt)
3. Exodus Acquires W3C Using Bitcoin: Exodus is funding a $175 million | 2,003 BTC acquisition of W3C Corp (Monavate, Baanx) with its Bitcoin holdings, expanding into onchain payments. (CoinTelegraph) (AC-Who says you can't buy things with Bitcoin?)
-Economic Indicators-
1. US Stocks Rally on Tech Strength: US stocks rallied to start the holiday shortened week with the S&P 500 up 1.6% the Nasdaq jumping 2.7% and the Dow adding just over 240 points as investors grew more confident the Fed will ease policy soon. (TradingEconomics)
-Security Concerns-
1. Bitcoin Heist: Family Members Waterboarded, Sexually Assaulted as Attackers Steal $1.6 Million | 18.29 BTC: The “wrench attack,” or physical attack in which an assailant attempts to gain access to a victim’s cryptocurrency, took place on April 27-28, 2024. During the home invasion, four men unlawfully entered the victims' home, first gaining access when two of the men dressed as Canadian Post workers sought a signature for a fake package. Once inside, the victims—a husband, wife, and daughter—were restrained with zip ties. The men also waterboarded the husband and wife, and threatened to cut off the husband’s genitals if he did not provide them with the access to his funds. (Decrypt)

Analyst Comments (AC): The recent focus by China on the island of Taiwan in interactions with Japan and now Pres. Trump, indicate a possible new concern over potential actions toward the nation. The years of miliary drills and buildup to practice invasions of the island are giving way to harsh words over outside intervention in what China considers their own sovereign land. This may simply be continued 'programming' of global narratives to facilitate a reason to invade, or an actual precursor to action. This is the time for world powers to plan accordingly and deter or buildup if choosing to defend Taiwan.
