So **MIT** has apparently achieved orbital solar energy that could benefit everyone on earth with a free energy source

That's what they claimed anyway, but you and I know that's not how things work.

It will be centrally distributed which means it will be a natural monopoly. The infrastructure will cost money for which you will be taxed. Pricing will be set most likely by the State, IE fascism. Whoever controls that source will eventually rule the world.

That is the solution a people need to be free.

I should be more excited about this. It appears it would potentially make available about 100 to 200 W/m^2 24 hours a day. Mirrors would be much less expensive and would work with existing solar panels on earth, though it would be an ecological disaster to take away the night. I can't say im looking forward to being perpetually zapped wirh microwaves.

Theoretically, the microwaves would be invisible and targeted.
