This is part of a process of demoralisation in my opinion.
They want us to think there's no pattern.
It's a classic demoralisation technique used by cults and despotic regimes alike. Getting people to comply with things that clearly make no sense.
The end result is somebody that just gives up questioning anything and readily complies with anything, no matter how nonsensical or illogical.
