rate limiter is blocking 80% of it but some still slip through. If they are ip blocked it should slow them down even more

The distributed spam attacks will be an interesting problem to solve

No issue, I just saw the term "rate limiting" and it reminded me of my insane attempt to use github as my F-Droid app store replacement via obtaining... That message would pop up a lot for a cheapskate like me... 😁

Not sure what tor users expect on public relays with no signup requirement. If whatever exit node you’re going through is being used to spam my relay, its going to be blocked

Thoughts on rate limiting event/req messages per websocket connection rather than IP?

pretty easy to get around by spawning multiple connections after each other. IP is way better

along with all the legitimate users
