This topic brings out the meanie in me, since I've heard that from so many people in my life, which I actually met in person in various circumstances.

The thing is, if you wanna learn to play the guitar, you do it. I've had friends & acquaintances who literally did just that.

If you wanna play some MMO, you do it. You want to do it.

But whenever it comes to Japanese, everyone is screaming "omgggg mi wanna learn dis uwu uwu uwu uwu uwu" and I'm like "so when did you start your first lesson?" and all I get is an "uuuuhmm"....

If you can learn to play the guitar, you can learn Japanese. In fact, learning Japanese is easier, because anyone can do it, while you need swift fingers & proper motoric functionality to play the guitar somewhat properly. However, you don't even need all fingers. One of my friends actually played lots of guitar with missing fingers.

So, if my friend can play the guitar with six fingers, anyone can learn Japanese.

That said, I also don't like how due to the enormous anime consumption by morons outside of Japan, everyone seems to think, that Japanese people, for example here, just speak about some crazy or mysterious stuff.

So, let me tell you, when I got on #Nostr & checked out a couple of Japanese accounts & saw what they posted over long periods of time it was actually the most benign stuff, even more benign than I expected. Posting about food & drinks & whatever you do at home when you're bored.

Just one guy talked a bit about some anime & another account worked on anime sketches. All other accounts were super boring.

Another reason they are here is obviously to praise #Nostr & the Japanese relay conglomerate etc. Same thing, English speakers do.

Just learn Japanese. It's better than letting #BigTech scan every post of Japanese victims to feed their #algorithm's & train their #AI's.

I tried to get into a japanese course - thrice.

1st attempt: Sorry, I can't handle people with visual impairments and have no idea how to, nor the time.

2nd attempt: Sorry, the waitlist spans across three years.

3rd attempt: -never replied to my emails.-

I hope to find a class, some time, eventually. Learning in person, rather than internet, feels more natural. Got that lesson the hard way. Learning english in school was only so boring because I had not discovered my usecase for it. Once that was over, it was a lot of fun! Since I have clear use cases for japanese (not just nostr or anime - but I would also like to learn more about the overall history and cultural parts that aren't discussed by weebs for obvious reasons - that being, they don't know much beyond "omai wa shinderu" et cetera XD) I think it'd be much better to learn it in a class.

But, no luck so far. Hopefuly soon tho! Mining fiat also means that I can afford such things, finally!

You can do it at home on your own. Takes longer, but also works. I told you about that in an earlier post.

Especially, with how much anime & film content there is out there, it's especially easy to improve phonetic capabilities.

I totally get that use case thing.

Though, if you currently cannot do it in class & person, you can at least start without that.
