Attia talks about this in Outlive, being a vegetable isn't really living. He tries to focus his research towards people with long health spans, someone who isn't just alive in their 80s or 90s but still mentally and physically able to engage with hobbies other than Netflix. It was a good book, I recommend it.

TLDR, WHO is lazy about their research. This isn't always true.

They do generalize with the "there is no typical old person" to cover the bases.

The QoL issues are an often overlooked aspect when people cling to following the government script and retiring at their sanctioned retirement age.

I still stand by my thinking that its far better to earn, save in Bitcoin, live beneath ones means, and "retire" as early as possible to then do the hobbies and passions one wants to. Id rather live cash poor and free, than be exhausted, achy, irritable with mugh more dollars .
