The power comes from it's ability to unite & align people under a shared set of common values.

I have an issue with surrendering & trusting an external entity, be it the church, a man (eg Jesus) or a God figure.

I believe God is more than an entity, that God is All that is. This means that I am a tiny part of God, but not separate. I therefore surrender to & trust in my higher self, my sovereign soul, my connection to God within.

I believe that Jesus was trying to teach us this but that our need to worship something external corrupted his teachings. Humans seem to have always had a need to worship. Perhaps it comes from an inner belief of being unworthy or a fear of taking responsibilty?

Don't trust, verify. You can find your own version of this through meditation/prayer. Let your body be your temple & your feelings be your guide.
