Regarding your last question: did you make sure both of your phones are connected to the same 0xchat relay circle?

imo having 0xchat relay by default is centralizing and people need to go through thr process of finding out what a relay and a circle are. the "clueless" just need a better explanation with nice visuals.

i'm in favor of anything that lets users make the decisions, pre-defined relays are not conducive to that approach.
