The non tech people aren’t going to join unless there is at least something about this protocol that is similar to what they already use. The feed may look similar but that’s where the familiarity ends. Trying to explain to someone how the relays work is enough to scare them right back to Facebook, lol.

Yes, some apps make that a bit easier by giving you default relays, but that doesn’t help you learn what they mean and what they are capable of.

You’re trying to convince them to use what you consider to be the better protocol, it’s your job to convince them of that and right now, it’s not happening.

I equate how the Nostr client devs operate to how big pharmaceuticals approached the Covid vaccine. If they actually gave a fuck about the people instead of just their bottom line, they would work together to create a more resistant vaccine rather than offering three different watered down versions like you’re choosing your cable package. Fuck that.

If Nostr devs truly cared about the community they are trying to build, they would all work on one client that is fully functional, then you build off of that. Right now it’s a fucking joke because they’re more concerned with becoming #nostrfamous

Agreed with the first paragraph. Regarding clients on Nostr. The point is to be free to create what u want without having to be forced to create just 1.

I mean, I get that, I’m not saying they aren’t free to pursue their own projects, just that it should wait until a basic framework is worked out that all clients can use.

Do you know anything about ROM development? Usually one or two of the bigger teams work on bringing up the new OS version, ground zero roms was famous for this and their GZOSP base was what most of the roms were built on top of. DU was famous for bringing up new versions as well, so it wasn’t really a surprise that development stagnated once Alex called it quits.

So, you have developers free to create whatever they wish, but let’s get the important shit done first so everyone can enjoy it and stop worrying about building a reputation.

No worries, I was just trying to point out the glaring differences between Android and iOS developers. Most Android devs do it out of love for coding and making their user’s lives better, iOS devs seem to do it as a side hustle and a way to generate passive income and a reputation, with the user’s experience only as secondary notion.

I’ve never seen so many paid subscriptions apps where you are basically paying just to hold onto the features you already paid for.
