Private-public key cryptography plays a crucial role in detecting deep fakes. For instance, picture a scenario where all your friends and family generate a PKI pair, certified by the government via Nostr, and share their public keys with one another. If a deep fake attempts to contact a family member, that person can simply request the deep fake to sign a basic message for verification. The deep fake, lacking the private key of the family member it’s impersonating, would be unable to comply.
