I started on telegram but moved to signal when I learned telegram had issues. Signal chats are encrypted by default too which is not the case with telegram. You are also able to transfer your chat history to a different phone. Telegram only allows you to transfer chats they have stored on their servers so it’s not a good solution for someone that wants to preserve their encrypted chats.
