If the controversial upgrade in Core v30 is the limit increase - which users have the option to dial down…. How about a copy of all Core v30 exactly, but keep default OP_RETURN at 80 bytes and allow users to dial UP to a higher limit IF THEY WANT. As opposed to current v30 which defaults to higher limit and allows users to dial down (which has obvious issues).

An outside observer wouldn’t have a hard time challenging the decentralization plot when Bitcoin’s “fate” depends on a few people forcing one proposal vs another. Sounds a lot like the Fed setting rates.
