The market cap of a company mostly matters if you're invested in it. Price is primarily related to current and expected future profit rather than economic activity. Walmart has the highest revenue and the highest operating expenses making it the biggest slice of the economy outside of the various levels of government, but importantly, unlike the share market, there is much less dominance of a handful of companies.

You're talking as though there's never been a bubble before. If you're concerned about risk (and you should be) there are lower risk options for your investments.
