I don't really see creatives getting that many zaps. It's more a celebrity/Twitterati thing.

What celebrity does is make you seem rarer as a person and therefore increases your perceived scarcity, and people will pay more for something rare. That's what marketing is all about, and influencers and celebrities are expert marketers.

People pay more for a strong brand, than for actual content.

Not to mention the lurkers on here that constantly take memes without even a boost or a zap, and then post it on twitter as their own, where they get over a 1000 likes within a day.
