I am more concerned with lack of external signer support for their mobile apps.

If you are on Android, can you use Orbot? Haven't tried myself since I won't use Primal until there is external signer support.

I don't know of many clients that do have built-in Tor support, other than #Amethyst, and it is still a relatively recent addition, so I can't knock Primal too hard for that.

I don't need Tor to be built-in, I need an app to have an ability to connect through a local orbot proxy. I'm not running orbot as a VPN, just a proxy that goes through a VPN.

Latest orbot has vpn mode and you can select which apps to use via tor. So it should work with primal!

Yeah, Primal's not going to be your jam. They are definitely targeting the new users, so I doubt that is going to be high on their priority list to include.
