Do you think they’ll “approve” it any time soon? Or are there technical or some other issues that are in the way?

no, they don't allow the extension through in the way it's currently implemented and the new way they want it implemented would require me to get your nsec in my extension
and I just don't want to do that when there's already a perfectly good extension handling your private key
if there is no other way I'll just do it via my nsec handler project when it's ready
