To mine profitably you need very cheap power. To get the cheapest rates you may need to sign power contracts of significant size, for duration. Then you'll want to make sure you're using nearly all power you're paying for. If you can find someone else already going down this road of establishing their own facility, you may be able to rent rack space, power, network, and support from them at a good price.

If you dont mind losses in fiat terms, want to test the waters for kyc free sats at home (residential power rates), then you could start with an Amtminer S19 or better from kaboomracks. It really depends on your budget and how long you want to run. Two other factors to consider for home mining is cooling/airflow and inevitable noise abatement.

Interesting so say it would be residential home mining I have a budget of 1 - 1.5 million sats with this what hardware should I buy and what would the daily cost vs gain would that be? With a setup like this would it be best to join a pool or solo mine?

200 Antminer S21 200T @ $4299 for $859800. Put them in a long (40ft) Bitmain Antbox container (~$80000 to $90000). Get an appropriate transformer. Maybe 1200kvA with a price tag of about 100000. Prep the site with adequate concrete pads for container, and transformer. On delivery of container and transformer youll need equipment (e.g. crane) rented for placement. Factor in costs (and delays) for safety checks and power hookups.

On the power side that is 700kW/hour (~504000 kWh/month, 6132000 kWh/year). Production (200 units x 200Th) is 40Ph. Earnings depend on proportion of your hashpower to overall network and pool performance. Braiins tools at https://insights.braiins.com/en can be useful in assessing probable income.

These are only rough costs to get you an idea of the capital and operational outlay. Id encourage anyone serious about this to plan it out with a consultant who specializes in this.
