Every so often, while working on scripting Roblox game ideas with ChatGPT, the conversation reaches a point where it’s gone too long and the effectiveness of the code/the lag become too much to ignore and I’m forced to start a new conversation. I was wondering how others deal with transitioning to a new conversation? Building up some context again is a hurtle that tends to end my work for that day.
Discussion
I’m guessing cursor or copilot don’t have that problem, that’s chat specific no?
I’m not certain I typically just use ChatGPT because I pay for it anyways (I use it to write titles and descriptions of Pokemon cards for eBay lol). I should try other systems and see how they handle long term work because it’s one of the issues with ChatGPT that has persisted since I started using it.
I think all of them do that AI hasn’t made any real breakthroughs in explainability yet. Still untapped until it does find the definition we need
I'm writing a sci fi story.
I'm using Google products exclusively.
This also happens to me to some degree.
I recommend Google Gemini paired with Google Notebook LM.
The Notebook LM is my story's encyclopedia.
Gemini provides an agent for discussion within the story.
When Gemini falters, I create a new agent and give it a lore bible plus any extra information I am using.
I appreciate the strategy I’ll look into it :)
I do res points where I ask it to encapsulate up to a point with all the details so it can be fed into a new chat every 10 prompts or so.GPT-4 has been the best at not hallucinating and losing explanation
While searching around on YouTube I saw someone made a chrome extension that deletes all the conversation back and forth above, and it really sped up everything. Seems temporarily broken because of the gpt5 update but hopefully they’ll update their plugin to fix this soon. Would like to try it.
